We all have been there!
You work hard to get healthy and fit. Particularly, during the weight loss phase, you progress with losing fat at a calorie deficit and follow it consistently.
But, at some point, you find yourself with no change in your progress. This halt in the progress is called a WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAU!
5 common reasons that can lead to weight loss plateau:
When the calories consumed are equal to calories burned.
The body reaches a set point where it tries to maintain the same weight.
Decreasing physical activity.
Not checking the extra calories consumed.
Depends on conditions such as hormonal imbalances like hypothyroidism and menopause.
So, is there no solution?
Well, there is.
What to do to break the weight loss plateau?
Either decrease calories or increase (if already on low calories).
Be on a diet break by increasing the calories to maintenance for 1-2 weeks before going on a deficit.
Increase physical activity such as NEAT.
Incorporate strength training to preserve or increase the muscle.
